LOGAN UTAH I've passed through Logan several times and driven through its windy
canyon just outside the town on my way to Jackson Hole WY, and Yellowstone Ntl Park. If Norman Rockwell was looking
for a town to draw his inspiration from, it could well have been this sleepy college community that retirees are just discovering.
Yes, it snows in the winter but for many it's worth shoveling off driveways when you live in the middle of paradise.
The Utah Department of Transportation is also much better at keeping roads and Freeways clear of snow and ice than
states we've been to on the east coast. One winter while living in Edgewater Maryland we were socked in for three
days with a mere foot of snow. This wasn't a rural farm, or dirt road somewhere off the beaten path. It was one of a
chain of small towns near Annapolis. . Logan does get too cold for me in
the winter, but it is not nearly as cold as Minnesota or Winconsin so for retirees coming from 30 degree below weather
it might be a welcome relief.
Described as neighborly and cultured, this charming city, full of quaint historic homes sits in Cache
Valley surrounded by the lushly forested Wellsville Mountains, rivers and lakes. At the heart of this gem is Utah State University.
. Last time we looked real estate was still strong. You won't find residential home
blocks bursting at the seams with for sale signs here. Home prices are not plummeting either which as you know is
an indicater that the economy is stable here. And according to the annual FBI report, Logan has been rated one of the safest
places to live in the United States.
Founded by Mormon pioneers in 1859 this small college town has
all of the things people want in a community to raise families or a place to retire and settle in...restaurants, department
stores, culture, doctors and hospitals, indoor and outdoor activities without all of the congestion and crime most cities
have
Provo Utah, another college town (Brigham Young University) has been ranked as
one of the top 5 safest cities to live. Provo sits at the foot of the Wasatch mountain range. It's farther south than Logan,
so the winters are more mild. Shopping malls, restaurants, theater, and outdoor activities are just a few of the assets this
cozy city has to offer. . MOAB
Utah....If you don't live there, at least vacation there. When I was young, I didn't like desserts...at
all. But as an adult this sleepy town took my breath away. See Why so many Europeans have made Moab their prime vacation spot when they Holiday in the U.S. and why adventure
seekers and lovers of beautiful scenery keep coming back. . ARE YOU FINANCIALLY PREPARED TO RETIRE? THE

Salt Lake and surrounding communities. . While still recognized as a predominently Mormon state, the fact is that in the Salt Lake
area only 40% of the residents are in fact practicing Mormons. Salt Lake is more expensive than smaller towns and communities
throughout the state, but if offers more bang for the buck than many large cities too. Home to University of Utah, it abounds
with culture, history, parks, recreation, jobs, sports teams...the list goes on and on. . Salt
Lake is a hop skip and a jump from Park City, a little ski resort town nestled against the backdrop of jaw-dropping
mountains you might have heard of. Park city is also touted as having some of the best snow in the country.
. A little farther south, you can attend the Sundance Film Festival
and do a little skiing between flicks.
St George Utah Real estate prices here are still low compared to other mid-sized cities in
California or on the east coast. Plenty of beautiful scenery, it also boasts tons of shopping and dining. It is home to a
local college, and about an hours drive to Cedar City where you can enjoy world famous summer theater. While some of the neighborhoods
in St George get snow in the winter, others do not. It can be extremely hot in the summer, with temps over 100, and is
surrounded by mountains, and gorgeous red rocks. Plenty to do and see in St. George.
Biking slick rock, Moab, UT. If you like adventure, you'll enjoy this place. MORE
